They say that it's as much about "who you know"... as it is about "what you know"!

 

And for smart, capable people... this can be a bit offensive.

 

They wonder why it is that they don't get interviews, job offers, or promotions... when they know damn well that they are totally qualified.

 

I'm sure this is very frustrating.

 

On the other hand... you might not be as qualified as the ad is asking for... but can't get more experience if someone won't take a chance on you.

 

2 PROBLEMS... ONE SOLUTION!

 

Both of these problems are solved by the same thing... increasing your network strength.

 

It's just reality... 

 

YOUR NETWORK = YOUR FUTURE NET WORTH!

 

Today I'll unpack some quick ideas about the power of referrals and how to leverage your network to increase your chances of getting an interview and landing your dream job.

 

Step 1: Identify who you know

 

  • Problem: You're not sure who in your network can help you with your job search
  • Framework: Identifying who in your network can help you with your job search
  • Explanation: Start by making a list of everyone you know, including friends, family, colleagues, classmates, and acquaintances. Think about who in your network is currently working in the field you're interested in, who has worked in that field in the past, and who may know someone who is. This will give you a good starting point for reaching out to people for help with your job search.
  • Questions to help dig deeper: Who in your network is currently working in the field you're interested in? Who has worked in that field in the past? Who in your network knows someone who is working in that field?

 

Step 2: Reach out to your network

 

  • Problem: You're not sure how to reach out to people in your network
  • Framework: Reaching out to people in your network for help with your job search
  • Explanation: Once you've identified who in your network can help you, it's time to reach out to them. This can be as simple as sending an email or message asking if they're open to chat about job opportunities. Make sure to be clear about what you're looking for and how they can help.
  • Questions to help dig deeper: What are you looking for in a job? How can the people in your network help you with your job search?

 

Step 3: Leverage your network

 

  • Problem: You're not sure how to leverage your network to increase your chances of getting an interview
  • Framework: Leveraging your network to increase your chances of getting an interview
  • Explanation: Once you've identified who in your network can help you and reached out to them, it's time to leverage your network to increase your chances of getting an interview. This can be done by asking for introductions, referrals, or recommendations. Remember that referrals are 10 times more likely to get an interview than job board applications.
  • Questions to help dig deeper: Who in your network can give you a referral or introduction? How can you ask for a referral or introduction?

 

NETWORKING IS POWERFUL!

 

By leveraging your network and using referrals, you can increase your chances of getting an interview and landing your dream job.

 

Remember to identify who you know, reach out to your network, and leverage your network.
